Oh, it’s been a time!
I completed the Fourth Flag of Resistance on September 26. With the Presidential election looming, on September 27 I began the Fifth Flag…
…and have been stitching on it daily. I have added a few touches that make this Flag a little different from its predecessors:
And finally, this one:
Many of you have asked if, now that Trump has been defeated, will I stop stitching the Flags of Resistance? The answer is, not yet. I will continue to stitch the Fifth Flag until Inauguration Day 2021, because there will be quite a lot of NOT NORMAL between now and then. Although I expect that President-Elect Biden and Vice President-Elect Harris will head us back toward some kind of “normal,” we cannot forget that nearly 50% of the votes cast went to Donald Trump. Therefore, my daily resistance project will evolve, though I do not yet know what form it will take, as we move into a future that is at once more optimistic and yet continues to be fraught with danger and serious, even existential, challenges including systemic racism, epic political polarization, climate change, and a global pandemic, to name just a few.
Stay tuned.
