A few years ago, I wrote a post about a piece of my mother’s, an unfinished needlepoint that I had just discovered.
I had a little fun running the image through Kaleidacam, a nifty (and addictive) phone app that turns images into kaleidoscopes.
Given my current needlefelting obsession, it’s not surprising that I decided to mark the 10th anniversary of my mother’s death on March 15 by reinterpreting the kaleidoscopes in wool and felt.
My colors aren’t exactly the same as my mother’s, and the needlefelting results in some loss of detail, but I love the wooly textures. I think my mother would be pleased.
