And so, it is done. (See here for how it all began.)

A calendar page for every month of 2021, and a headline stitched for every day. 365 of them.

This project just about did me in. First thing every morning, searching The Week’s Daily Briefing, checking the front pages of the New York Times and the Washington Post, reading Heather Cox Richardson, listening to NPR news broadcasts, steeping myself in it while my coffee brewed, trying to determine the most important story of the day, to keep up and not fall behind…

And coming up with artwork for each month. Nothing political—just good old calendar art, to balance the daily headlines. The 12 pieces include knitting, embroidery, applique, and needlefelting.

Now the year is done, and I ‘m looking forward to a bit of a break, the time to concentrate on my other artwork and to reconnect with my elusive muse. But I am proud of this work, and the accomplishment of creating this stitched document of one very turbulent and difficult year.
