In linen stitch, work 12 rounds. Join B and work 2 rounds B, 2 rounds A, 2 rounds B, 2 rounds A.
Cut A and continue with B for 12 rounds. Join C and work 2 rounds C, 2 rounds B, 2 rounds C, 2 rounds B.
Cut B and continue with C for 12 rounds. Join D and work 2 rounds D, 2 rounds C, 2 rounds D, 2 rounds C.
