A small thing is a hat. But important. In a cold place, in the winter, you have to have a hat. And in a very cold place, with snow, and wind, and ice, and especially if you have to be outside for hours on end, or all the time, you need a very warm hat indeed.
I have knit two hats, stranded, doublelayered, made of good warm wool and alpaca for extra warmth, to send to Standing Rock, to help warm a couple of the people there, people fighting peacefully to keep their lands sacred and their water clean.
The pattern is available as a free pdf download on my Patterns page, if you want to knit it for a cause, for someone you love, for yourself, or for anyone who needs warmth against the cold.
