I have completed my Made on Monday project--52 pieces of fiber artwork, 5" x 5", made on every Monday of 2016. In the next few days, I will write a post summarizing that year of work. But now, it's a new year, and a new project.

Yesterday was my first Stitching Monday of 2017. In the spirit of the Made on Monday project, I plan to spend at least part of every Monday this year working on an embroidery or other stitched work. For the month of January, I intend to finish this piece, which I have been working on sporadically for two or three years. Now, it's time to get it done!

When I started this piece, I had no preconceived idea of the finished work. Instead I meander, letting the fabric and the thread tell me where to go.

Sometimes I follow the lines of the fabric (a scrap, hand-marbled by my sister years ago); other times, I deliberately ignore them, just following my needle wherever and however it leads me.

More next week!
