Daily Color: “Aurora had but newly chased the night,
And purpled o'er the sky with blushing light.” –John Dryden

We watched the sky last night. Crystal clear, the moon enormous, and then the shadow creeping, turning the moon into a glowing ember suspended among the stars. And oh, the stars! As the moon dimmed, the stars, already brilliant, brightened even more, the Milky Way vibrant. At one point, a shooting star streaked beneath the red moon.

The only thing that could have made this spectacular night more spectacular? Northern lights. I haven't seen them in years; it's been too cloudy, or I've been too sleepy to venture out in the wee hours on a cold, clear night to search the sky for the irridescent bands and waves of light.

For now, this new temari will have to stand in until I'm lucky enough to see Aurora again.
