After Dinner

Daily Color: “The artist works by locating the world in himself.” –Gertrude Stein

After dinner last night we went down to the river, under the dam.

I knit while my husband and son fished.

Laceweight merino/tencel blend from Mollycoddle Yarns.

The broad, flat shore is covered with rocks--pebbles, large boulders, and everything in between.

Sunday

Daily Color: “Everywhere is walking distance if you have the time.” ―Steven Wright

I started the day with an early morning walk. When I set out, the morning mist still blanketed the landscape.

I walked just past the end of my road, where there is an old covered bridge. A while back, the town restored the bridge, which had been removed years before and was sitting in a field. Although not suitable for automobile traffic, it spans the river once again as a pedestrian bridge.

From the bridge, the usually lazy river below is high and muddy, the result of recent heavy rains.

During one of those storms, the rapidly draining rainwater eroded this hole by the edge of the dirt road; it's about three feet wide and a couple of feet deep.

By the time I got home again, the mist had lifted, and my husband was awake and had the coffee ready.

And now I'm ready for the rest of my day.
