Sounding a Mosaic

Daily Color: “By a simple show of hands, who here is wearing gloves?” –Jarod Kintz

Another mosaic set, finished and headed for Vermont Hand Crafters Craft Vermont Fine Craft and Art Show next weekend.

I worked this set in a tonal semisolid and a handpainted variegated yarn. The turquoise is Wandering Wool Rock Creek Sock, colorway Neptune. Unfortunately, the handpaint is a mystery yarn; it was given to me years ago, already wound, without a label. I'm pretty sure it's alpaca or an alpaca/wool blend. It's got a slight fuzziness that gives this set just a little soft halo, and added warmth.

Knit, Slip, Knit...

Daily Color: “She was a person who believed that something made by human hands—a meal, a garden, a pair of wool mittens—was invariably superior to the storebought substitute.” –Joyce Maynard

The second hat is finished and ready for blocking, and I've begun the matching fingerless mitts.

Slouching Along

Daily Color: “Some hats can only be worn if you're willing to be jaunty, to set them at an angle and to walk beneath them with a spring in your stride as if you're only a step away from dancing. They demand a lot of you.” –Neil Gaiman

This set is finished and headed to the Craft Vermont Fine Art and Craft Show and sale next month, but you can make your own set, too... Visit my Patterns page for free pdf downloads.

This set is made with Dream in Color Knitosophy, colorway Strength (the purple) and a lovely blue variegated wool from my stash, the label long gone. I suspect it has a tiny bit of mohair in it, and perhaps a little nylon?

Fun to knit, though you must enjoy working on tiny needles! I've already cast on for another set.
